European equities advanced on Monday after U.S. President Donald Trump said diplomatic talks with Iran remain active, easing geopolitical tensions that had recently roiled markets. The pan-European Stoxx 600 index rose 0.3%, with major benchmarks in London, Frankfurt, and Paris all trading higher. Energy stocks underperformed, however, as Brent crude oil futures slipped 1.2% to $73.50 a barrel on hopes that a potential U.S.-Iran confrontation can be averted. Analysts said the comments provided a respite from weeks of heightened rhetoric. “Investors are breathing a sigh of relief,” one strategist noted. Trading volumes were light, with many awaiting further clarity on the negotiations.
