Meta Platforms Inc. (META) disclosed in a California state filing that it will eliminate 2,274 positions across its offices, including 2,200 at its Menlo Park headquarters and 74 in Playa Vista, as part of its previously announced plan to shed nearly 10% of its global workforce—roughly 8,000 employees—to streamline operations and fund artificial-intelligence investments. The layoffs began in May 2026, with affected workers notified on May 22 and remaining on payroll through July 22, according to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing. Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg told staff he does not foresee additional companywide job reductions this year.
