Meta (META) Rolls Out Subscription Plans for Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp; AI Chatbot Tiers From $7.99

Meta Platforms Inc. (META) on May 27, 2026 announced a global rollout of paid subscription tiers for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, alongside new AI chatbot subscription plans starting at $7.99 per month, as the social media giant seeks to diversify revenue beyond advertising. Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus will cost $3.99 monthly, while WhatsApp Plus is priced at $2.99. The AI service Meta AI will test Meta One Plus ($7.99) and Meta One Premium ($19.99) with higher computing power, initially in Singapore, Guatemala, and Bolivia in June. Creator and business plans will be tested in Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Thailand, and Bangladesh, with tiers ranging from $14.99 to $49.99 per month. The move comes as Meta ramps up AI infrastructure spending, with annual capital expenditure projected at a median $135 billion, while cutting about 8,000 jobs, or 10% of its workforce. Shares rose 3.74% to $635.26 on May 27. All subscriptions will eventually consolidate under the “Meta One” brand.
