Reid Hoffman, the billionaire co-founder of LinkedIn, will not seek re-election to Microsoft's board of directors at the company’s 2026 annual shareholder meeting, Microsoft disclosed in a regulatory filing on June 5, 2026. Hoffman, who joined the board in 2017, will serve until the meeting and cited no disagreements with management over policy or operations. Hoffman sold LinkedIn to Microsoft for $26.2 billion in 2016, in what was then the software giant’s largest acquisition. The professional network has since grown to over 1.3 billion members. Hoffman has maintained a wide venture portfolio, co-founding artificial intelligence startup Inflection AI in 2022 and leading early investments in Airbnb’s Series A round in 2010 and autonomous driving company Aurora through Greylock Partners in 2018.
