Shares of Amkor Technology Inc. (AMKR), Teradyne Inc. (TER) and FormFactor Inc. (FORM) surged on May 27, 2026, after Micron Technology Inc. (MU) signaled that AI-related chip demand remains structurally undersupplied, a bullish outlook for semiconductor equipment makers and packaging providers. UBS estimated Micron will spend more than $50 billion on capacity over the next five years, translating into billions of dollars in orders for tool suppliers and foundries. Amkor, a key chip-packaging company, jumped to $73.50, near its 52-week high of $78.10 set in April 2026, and has gained 71.2% year-to-date. The rally also reflected broader momentum in AI infrastructure, as traders positioned ahead of Nvidia Corp.'s fiscal first-quarter earnings on May 22. Additionally, a 5.21% drop in Brent crude oil prices eased inflation expectations, supporting chip stocks whose valuations are tied to long-dated AI capital spending through 2030.
