Anthropic secures $30 billion funding round at $900 billion valuation, surpassing OpenAI

Anthropic has agreed to final terms for a $30 billion funding round that would value the AI startup at about $900 billion, financial media reported May 15, 2026. The round, expected to close as soon as May 2026, would put Anthropic ahead of OpenAI’s reported $852 billion valuation. Sequoia Capital is co-leading the financing with Dragoneer, Greenoaks and Altimeter Capital, with several investors expected to contribute at least $2 billion each. Terms could still change because the deal has not been formally announced. Anthropic’s valuation has surged from about $380 billion after a $30 billion round announced February 13, 2026. The company’s annualized revenue is reportedly nearing $45 billion, up from about $9 billion at the end of 2025 and above OpenAI’s disclosed $24 billion run rate. Existing backers include Alphabet’s Google (GOOGL), Amazon (AMZN) and Salesforce Ventures, with Amazon’s cumulative investment reported at $8 billion. Anthropic could pursue an IPO process as early as late 2026, according to the report.
