Eni Discovers 5 Tcf Gas Offshore Côte d'Ivoire

Eni announced a major gas and condensate discovery at the Murene South-1X well in Block CI-501 offshore Côte d'Ivoire, with an estimated 5.0 Tcf of gas and up to 450 million barrels of condensate. The well, drilled to 5,000 meters in 2,200 meters of water, encountered 50 meters of high-quality reservoir sands. Eni, operator with 90% interest, plans a drill stem test to confirm production potential. This discovery strengthens Côte d'Ivoire's position as a West African gas hub, complementing the Baleine field's Phase 3 expansion to 150,000 bpd oil and 200 MMcf/d gas. If commercial, it could support LNG and power projects.
