INEOS Energy Enters Asia LNG Market With Marubeni Deal From 2029

INEOS Energy signed a long-term liquefied natural gas supply agreement with Japan’s Marubeni Corp., marking its first move into the Asian market, the company said on June 2, 2026. Deliveries on a Delivered Ex-Ship basis will begin in 2029, giving INEOS direct access to Asia, the world’s largest and fastest-growing LNG demand center. The deal shifts the energy group’s portfolio beyond its traditional Atlantic Basin operations and into the Pacific Basin. “This provides a platform for further growth in Asia,” CEO David Bucknall said in a statement, adding the agreement strengthens a flexible, globally diversified trading strategy. For Marubeni, the deal secures additional supply amid intensifying global competition for long-term LNG cargoes. The accord reflects a broader push by portfolio players to link Atlantic and Pacific trading hubs as Asian nations replace coal with natural gas.
