Iran Denies US Deal as White House Confirms Draft Nuclear Talks Framework
Iranian officials on Wednesday denied that a memorandum of understanding with the United States has been finalized, contradicting the White House which earlier said a draft agreement awaited President Trump’s approval. The conflicting signals inject fresh uncertainty into efforts to extend a ceasefire and curb Iran’s nuclear program. A source close to Iran’s negotiating team told Tasnim News that no text has been finalized and no MoU has been agreed upon. Iran has not confirmed any approval to Pakistani mediators, the source said, calling Western reports unreliable. Iran’s delegation media member Saeed Aghalu said Tehran has made no commitments on nuclear issues in the talks. The White House had confirmed that negotiators reached an MoU that would prolong a ceasefire by 60 days while talks on Iran’s nuclear program take place, pending Trump’s decision. The standoff over the deal keeps oil markets on edge, as a successful pact could ease sanctions and boost crude supplies.
