Griffin Closes $1.1B Mana Wynwood Purchase, Brings Carnegie Mellon Campus to Miami

Hedge fund billionaire Ken Griffin closed his purchase of Mana Wynwood for an estimated $1.1 billion, with Carnegie Mellon University planning a satellite campus on a 35-acre Miami site. The deal, reported by The Real Deal, follows more than a year of negotiations with seller Moishe Mana. The campus is part of Griffin's $3 billion gift to the Pittsburgh-based university. About $2 billion is earmarked for Miami, funding industry research labs, venture studios and space for more than 3,500 students, 300 faculty and 600 staff. Enrollment is expected to begin in 2028, with construction possibly starting in 2026. Griffin has spent over $1 billion on South Florida real estate and is building a Citadel headquarters in Brickell. The Mana Wynwood property at 318 Northwest 23rd Street is anchored by a convention center. Griffin and Mana had previously denied reports of the sale.
