Kaiser Permanente to Lay Off 147 Administrative Employees Across California in November
Kaiser Permanente will cut 147 business and administrative positions across California in November, the Oakland-based nonprofit health system said Tuesday, September 29, 2026. The layoffs span 16 Kaiser locations in Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Riverside and Alameda counties, according to a state employment report. The largest reductions are 72 positions at a San Diego office and 20 at an administrative office in Pasadena. Kaiser said the cuts exclude employees providing direct patient care and "will not affect the quality of care or service we provide to our members and patients." The health plan said it is offering severance, career support and outplacement services to affected workers. The nonprofit employs roughly 180,000 people in California.
