Neko Health, Backed by Spotify's Ek, Launches US Body Scan Service in New York
Neko Health, the preventative body-scan startup co-founded by Spotify's David Ek and Hjalmar Nilsonne, has expanded into the United States with a launch in New York. The company says its global waitlist exceeds 300,000 people. The Swedish company has raised nearly $1 billion and charges $500 for a one-hour scan covering blood, skin, and metabolic markers. The service is not covered by insurance but qualifies as an allowable expense for Health Savings Accounts, according to investor Farooq Abbasi of Preface Ventures. Abbasi, who invested in Neko, said the scan's blood test now tracks 55 biomarkers, up from 15 in its earlier version. He said Neko is eyeing a broader US expansion, though scaling and regulatory approval remain hurdles. Neko uses computer vision to analyze scan results.
