Restate Raises $20M Series A to Scale Durable Infrastructure for AI Agents
Restate, a Berlin-based durable workflow infrastructure startup, has raised $20 million in Series A funding led by Singular, with participation from Redpoint Ventures and Capital One Ventures. The company will use the capital to hire a go-to-market team, expand engineering, and grow its San Francisco Bay Area office. The startup's execution engine, built with proprietary storage, replication, and redundancy layers rather than an external database, makes multi-step workflows resilient to crashes and network interruptions. Restate said it has closed multiple six- and seven-figure customer contracts in recent months, including with vibe coding platform Replit and Fortune 500 financial firms. The funding positions Restate against durable infrastructure heavyweight Temporal, which announced a $550 million Series E at a $12.55 billion valuation earlier in September 2026. Restate was co-founded in 2022 by Stephen Ewen, Igal Shilman, and Till Rohrmann, former executives of Data Artisans and Ververica, which Alibaba acquired in 2019.
