Bayer to Invest $2.2 Billion in New Albany, Ohio Pharma Manufacturing Site
Bayer's pharmaceuticals unit announced on October 2, 2026, plans to invest $2.2 billion in a new manufacturing site in New Albany, Ohio, as part of a push to boost U.S. revenue. The project is expected to create about 600 high-paying permanent jobs, with an additional 1,500 temporary construction positions. The U.S. share of Bayer's global pharmaceutical revenue has risen to 35% from 20% in 2018. Sebastian Guth, chief operating officer for pharmaceuticals, said the company aims to double U.S. sales by the end of the decade. Key products underpinning the expansion include Kerendia for chronic kidney disease, prostate cancer drug Nubeqa and stroke-prevention candidate asundexian. A drug substance manufacturing site is set to become operational in 2031, with a finished drug product facility to follow in 2034.
