Addison Ice Arena Placed in Receivership Amid $9.5M Foreclosure Lawsuit
A DuPage County court placed the Addison Ice Arena under receivership on October 1, 2026, after lender Republic Bank of Chicago filed a $9.5 million foreclosure lawsuit alleging owner and CEO Leon Lekai diverted more than $1 million in facility funds to family members. Judge Robert G. Gibson appointed Matthew Brash of Newpoint Advisors Corporation to manage the 73,000-square-foot, two-rink complex at 475 South Grace Street in Addison, Illinois. Brash is authorized to fund urgent repairs, manage operations and explore a sale of the property as a going concern. Republic Bank claims Lekai and entity Addison Ice, LLC defaulted on a loan originally issued in late 2021, missing July and August payments and April tax reserve deposits. Court filings allege he sent nearly $690,000 to his wife, Jennifer, over $400,000 to his son Robert, and $116,000 to MassMutual for personal life insurance premiums. Lekai's attorney, David Madden, said the bank misrepresented the facility's funding and that Addison Ice fully supported the receiver's appointment. The facility remains operational.
