S&P 500, Nasdaq Hit Records on Iran War Deal Hopes; Dow Slips

U.S. stocks rose to fresh all-time highs on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, as President Donald Trump said negotiations with Iran to end their war were “proceeding nicely.” The S&P 500 gained 0.6% to a record 7,519.12, while the Nasdaq Composite surged 1.2% to an all-time high of 26,656.18. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.2% to 50,461.68. Treasury yields eased on hopes a diplomatic resolution would stabilize global oil flows and reduce upward pressure on inflation. The Russell 2000 index of smaller companies jumped 1.8% to 2,920.54. For the year, the S&P 500 is up 9.8%, the Dow has risen 5%, the Nasdaq has climbed 14.7%, and the Russell 2000 has advanced 17.7%.
