SEG Solar Plans Third Texas Factory, Boosting U.S. Solar Capacity to 10.6 GW
SEG Solar announced plans on June 2, 2026, to build a third solar module factory in the Houston area, a move that would lift its planned annual U.S. production capacity to 10.6 gigawatts and place it among the nation’s largest domestic solar manufacturers. The 4.6 GW facility will occupy 1.15 million square feet and target commercial output by May 2027, following an expected construction completion in March 2027. SEG has signed an agreement with a local contractor for the project, which is designed to produce heterojunction (HJT) high-efficiency modules and ensure compliance with Foreign Entity of Concern rules through tighter supply-chain controls. The expansion comes ahead of the August 2026 opening of SEG’s second U.S. plant, a 4 GW facility. The Houston-based company, which has shipped over 7.5 GW of modules globally, is also planning an ingot and wafer factory in Indonesia and evaluating a U.S. site for HJT cell manufacturing to strengthen vertical integration and reduce trade-policy exposure.
