Sunrun, Tesla Home Battery Fleets Dispatch Record 580 MW to California Grid

Sunrun Inc. (RUN) and Tesla Inc. (TSLA) said their combined residential battery fleets dispatched more than 580 megawatts of peak power to California's grid on September 9, a record for the companies' virtual power plant networks. The companies announced the milestone on September 21, 2026, highlighting the role of home battery storage in supporting grid reliability during periods of high demand. The 580 MW represents aggregated output from thousands of residential battery systems coordinated to discharge power during evening peak hours, when solar generation declines and grid stress typically rises.
