Nvidia CEO Huang Says He Would Gladly Pay California Billionaire Tax

Nvidia (NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang said he would not object to paying billions of dollars under a proposed California "billionaire tax" set for a statewide vote in fall 2026, calling the payment both an honor and a responsibility. The ballot measure would levy a one-time 5% tax on California residents with net worth of at least $1 billion. Huang, whose fortune is estimated at $184 billion, said paying as much as $8 billion over five years would not trouble him. "I can afford to pay $8 billion in taxes over five years, and that itself is an honor," Huang told CBS News. "Nothing makes me happier than being able to pay more taxes." Huang, who describes himself as a portrait of the "ultimate American Dream," credited U.S. education and career opportunities for his success. He also recalled washing dishes at a Denny's restaurant before co-founding the chipmaker.
