Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Rejects AI Doomsday Claims, Says Technology Poses No Existential Threat

Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang reiterated that artificial intelligence poses no existential threat to humanity, dismissing warnings of an AI apocalypse as unfounded. "No matter how anyone describes it, 2030 will absolutely not be the end of the world. The probability of that is zero," Huang said in a CBS News interview scheduled to air Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026. Huang, whose company is the world's leading supplier of AI processors, argued that AI can be safely managed and opposed new regulatory legislation. He urged the industry to accelerate development while maintaining product safety. His remarks follow a wave of AI anxiety sparked earlier this month when Anthropic employee Jacob Coxon resigned, warning that AI researchers genuinely believe the technology could kill everyone within a decade. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei acknowledged some of Coxon's concerns, saying the industry has understated AI risks. The Trump administration has largely rejected such warnings. During a Los Angeles speech this week, Huang took a call from President Trump on speakerphone, with both publicly opposing global AI safety regulation efforts.
