NVIDIA (NVDA) and Microsoft (MSFT) are expected to announce the first Windows PCs using NVIDIA chips as the main processor as soon as the week of June 1, 2026, Axios reported Saturday. The devices will include Microsoft’s Surface line and models from Dell (DELL) and other manufacturers. The unveiling is set for the Computex trade show in Taiwan and the Build developer conference in San Francisco. Social media accounts for Windows, NVIDIA, and Arm (ARM) teased a “new PC era” with coordinates pointing to Taipei. The move heightens competition with Apple (AAPL), which introduced MacBooks with its M5 chip in March 2026, and with incumbent PC processor suppliers Intel (INTC), AMD (AMD), and Qualcomm (QCOM). Microsoft has been encouraging more power-efficient Arm-based Windows designs, but sales have yet to gain strong traction. Reuters reported in 2023 that NVIDIA was developing an Arm-compatible CPU for Windows. Microsoft also plans software to enable AI agents to run locally on the devices, advancing on-device AI capabilities.
