South Korean tech shares rallied Monday, with Samsung Electronics jumping 9.5% and LG Electronics soaring 28%, as Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s planned meetings with Korean executives fueled optimism over potential AI and robotics collaborations. Huang is set to visit South Korea later this week and meet LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, a source said. The rallies pushed Samsung’s market capitalization above 2,000 trillion won ($1.32 trillion). Nvidia also planned a "Korean Partner Night" event Monday in Taipei, where Huang and executives from Samsung and SK Hynix were scheduled to attend. Jeff Kim, an analyst at KB Securities, said Nvidia’s reliance on Korea carries “major implication.” Separately, Samsung said on May 29 it began shipping samples of its newest high-bandwidth memory chip to customers including Nvidia, a critical component for AI data centers. Nvidia last year announced plans to supply over 260,000 advanced AI chips to South Korean entities.
