Wiwynn (6669-TW), a key Nvidia (NVDA) server partner, warned on May 28, 2026 that AI data center supply bottlenecks are no longer confined to memory chips and will spread to networking components, with shortages likely persisting until late 2027 or 2028. Chairwoman Hong Lijing told Bloomberg that hyperscaler demand from Meta (META) and Microsoft (MSFT) will keep hardware orders robust for three to five years, but the rush to secure critical parts is pushing costs to historic highs and amplifying supply-chain stress. She said it remains difficult to pinpoint exactly where the next shortage will hit, but the scarcity of networking chips and other components is broadening the crunch. Over 80% of Wiwynn’s revenue comes from U.S. clients, and the company is expanding its Texas operations, where a first factory is now running and three more will follow within two years. To fund growth, Hong said the $2 billion convertible bond issued in March is not enough, and the firm may tap global depositary receipts or convertible bonds next year. The warning adds to fears that soaring infrastructure costs could slow AI buildouts.
