British technology group Ocado (OCDO) reached an agreement with Asda to revamp the supermarket chain's e-commerce operations, the companies announced on May 29, 2026. The partnership aims to help Asda, Britain's third-largest grocer, stem market-share losses to larger rivals Tesco and Sainsbury's. Asda, which already processes more than 700,000 online orders weekly across about 1,100 stores, will replace its existing e-commerce infrastructure with Ocado’s technology stack. The rollout, scheduled to begin in 2027, will deploy Ocado’s front-end webshop, in-store fulfillment systems, and last-mile planning and route-efficiency software across both retail stores and dedicated dark stores. The deal deepens Ocado’s licensing push, adding a major UK grocer to its global client roster.
