OPEC+ has delayed its production capacity review that will help set members' 2027 oil output quotas, after the US-Israeli war on Iran disrupted Middle East capacity expansion projects, two sources said on Oct. 2. The review, ordered in late 2025 and originally due by the end of September 2026, is now expected to be completed by mid-November. Not all countries have submitted required data, the sources said. The delay complicates a politically sensitive process, as capacity assessments influence how much individual members may pump. Countries with lower assessed capacity could face pressure for lower quotas, while those that expanded may seek higher allocations. The UAE, which sought a higher quota, left the alliance in May, and Iraq has considered leaving OPEC. OPEC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
