Swiss SMI Closes Flat at 13,942.91 as Oil, Iran Tensions Weigh on Sentiment

The Swiss market closed nearly unchanged on Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, with the benchmark SMI settling at 13,942.91, down 2.80 points or 0.02%, after surrendering early gains. The index reached a session high of 14,083.11 and a low of 13,937.42. Sentiment remained cautious as oil prices rose on supply concerns after U.S. President Donald Trump rejected Iran's proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, renewing inflation and interest-rate worries. Sonova led gainers, up 3.75%, followed by Lonza Group at 2.65%. Sika, Novartis and Sandoz Group gained 1.37%, 1.34% and 1.07%, respectively. Swisscom fell 2.7% and Helvetia Baloise Holding lost 2.1%. Logitech, Roche, UBS Group, Zurich Insurance and ABB also closed lower.
