Oracle cuts 546 cloud infrastructure jobs, with developers and engineers hit hardest

Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) laid off 546 workers in its America Cloud Infrastructure organization, about 7.6% of the unit's 7,185 employees, according to a document obtained by Business Insider detailing last week's cuts. Software developer III recorded the most departures at 57, with developers accounting for roughly 17% of total cuts. Roles with "manager" in the title made up 128 terminations, nearly a quarter of the listed reductions, including 61 program managers. Data center support services lost 41 workers, among them a vice president and two senior directors. Most affected employees were over 40, and about one in six was at least 60. Oracle did not disclose total layoff figures. The company, which had about 141,000 employees before the cuts, shed roughly 21,000 positions in the fiscal year ended May 31, 2026, citing AI deployment. The restructuring carries an estimated $2.8 billion cost, with $2.1 billion in charges recorded through August 31.
