PepsiCo to Raise Snack and Soda Prices by Low-to-Mid Single Digits After February Cuts
PepsiCo (PEP) plans to raise prices on chips and sodas by late 2026 or early 2027, months after cutting prices on popular snack brands, a company spokesperson said. The increases are expected to be modest — low-to-mid single digits, tracking broadly with inflation. Affected products include grocery-sized bags of Doritos and Ruffles, some sodas and dips, according to Reuters and Bloomberg. In February, PepsiCo cut prices by as much as 15% on Lay's, Doritos, Cheetos and Tostitos after consumer pushback. The spokesperson said prices would remain below pre-February levels. PepsiCo cited higher commodity costs in the second half of 2026 and said elevated fuel prices weighed on demand more than expected. North American sales volumes have continued to decline despite the February cuts. Second-quarter North American food sales fell 2%, though the company held its full-year outlook steady. PepsiCo shares slid roughly 1% on the news and are down nearly 10% since January. Activist investor Elliott Investment Management, which disclosed a roughly $4 billion stake last year, has pressed PepsiCo to revitalize its soda business.
