Pfizer Inc. (PFE) reported on May 29, 2026, that a seven-year follow-up of a pivotal study found its targeted therapy LORBRENA continued to delay disease progression in patients with a specific form of advanced lung cancer. The updated data from the Phase 3 CROWN trial reaffirmed the drug’s role as a first-line treatment for ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer. After a median follow-up of more than 86 months, the median progression-free survival was not yet reached in the LORBRENA arm, compared with 9.1 months for patients on crizotinib, the company said. The five-year progression-free survival rate for LORBRENA was 63%, with no new safety signals observed. Pfizer initially won U.S. approval for LORBRENA in this setting in 2021 based on earlier results from the same trial. The long-term data offers physicians further confidence in the treatment’s durability, which could support continued sales growth in the competitive lung cancer market.
