Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery Merger to Be Named Skydance, CEO David Ellison Says
David Ellison announced Friday that the combined Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery entity will be named Skydance, days before the merger is expected to close on Tuesday. The name revives the production company Ellison founded in 2006. "We chose this name for a few important reasons," Ellison wrote on X. He said the goal was to preserve the distinct identities and legacies of both Paramount and Warner Bros. while giving the combined company its own corporate identity. Ellison took control of Paramount in 2025 and renamed it Paramount Skydance. He may announce the merged company's leadership team on Monday, according to people familiar with the planning. He will lead a town hall and hold meetings in Los Angeles and New York next week.
