PayPal Adds Support for Meta's Muse AI Assistant to Expand Agentic Checkout

PayPal said it will support Meta Platforms' Muse AI assistant, enabling the agent to search and execute transactions on behalf of consumers across PayPal's merchant network and its 439 million monthly active users. The deal is PayPal's latest push into agentic commerce, following support for ChatGPT Checkout, OpenAI's Instant Checkout and its own Agentic Commerce Services suite. Muse, launched earlier this month, runs on Stripe's Link wallet rather than MetaPay and has drawn Shopify as an early adopter; Amazon has blocked it, citing unauthorized access. KeyBanc estimated Muse topped 2.8 billion downloads in its first 12 days. Analysts said scale adoption will hinge on trust, governance and liability rules, while William Blair said a hyperscaler acquirer could attribute significant AI value to PayPal's user base.
