Ryder Lifts Full-Year EPS Outlook, Heartland Express, Werner Beat Q1 Estimates in Strong Transport Sector

Ground transportation stocks Ryder (NYSE:R), Heartland Express (NASDAQ:HTLD), and Werner (NASDAQ:WERN) posted strong first-quarter 2026 results, with Ryder raising its full-year earnings guidance. According to a June 1 analysis, aggregate revenue for 15 tracked companies beat analyst consensus by 2.1%, and shares averaged an 8.7% gain since reporting. Ryder’s revenue was flat year-over-year at $3.13 billion, meeting estimates, but adjusted operating income and full-year EPS guidance topped projections. Its stock rose 10.3% to $250.93. Heartland Express saw revenue drop 19.7% to $176.3 million yet surpassed expectations, with EPS and EBITDA beats sending shares up 29.5% to $15.00. Werner’s revenue grew 13.6% to $808.6 million, exceeding forecasts, and the stock climbed 20.7% to $41.51. In contrast, Universal Logistics (ULH) missed revenue and operating income estimates, leading to a 28.9% stock decline.
