The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield jumped 17 basis points to 5.12% on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, its highest level since 2007, as strong business activity data and rising oil prices fueled inflation concerns and rate-hike bets. September business activity accelerated at the fastest pace since July 2021, S&P Global data showed, while input costs climbed on higher energy prices. CME FedWatch put October rate-hike odds at 71%, up from 55% a day earlier. The 30-year yield rose 12 basis points to 5.41% and the two-year added 17 basis points to 4.91%. Brent crude rose more than 3% to trade above $102 a barrel as traders weighed Middle East supply risks. The S&P 500 fell 0.65% and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.1%. The Treasury announced a buyback of up to $6 billion for Thursday, its second expanded operation.
