Bianco Turns Bullish on Treasuries as 10-Year Yield Hits 5.27%, Highest Since 2007
Jim Bianco, founder of Bianco Research, turned bullish on US Treasuries for the first time since 2020, citing an attractive entry point after benchmark yields surged to two-decade highs. The 10-year Treasury yield climbed to 5.27% on Sept. 28, 2026, its highest since 2007, as rising oil prices bolstered bets on further Federal Reserve rate hikes. Bianco increased duration in an actively managed bond index underpinning a $100 million WisdomTree ETF to over 6 years, versus 5.7 years for the Bloomberg US Aggregate Bond Index. He described the position as a gradual value play rather than an aggressive bet. Investors buying 10-year Treasuries at current levels would need yields to reach roughly 6% before price losses erase income, according to Bloomberg data. Bianco noted the return profile is asymmetric: a one-point yield rise would produce a loss under 2%, while an equal decline would generate about 13%.
