Rivian Corporate Controller Jon Franklin Exits Weeks After CFO McDonough's Departure
Rivian Automotive corporate controller Jon Franklin is leaving the electric vehicle maker, he announced in a LinkedIn post in late September 2026, roughly one month after long-time CFO Claire McDonough revealed she is departing to become CFO of GE Vernova. Franklin, who spent four and a half years at Rivian, did not disclose his next employer or confirm his exit date. McDonough is set to step down on Oct. 30, per an Aug. 27 SEC filing. Rivian named VP of Finance Derek Mulvey interim CFO and said a search for a permanent replacement is underway. The finance leadership turnover comes as Rivian works to reach profitability. The company posted a narrower Q2 net loss of $837 million, compared with $1.15 billion a year earlier, and has begun external deliveries of its R2 midsize SUV built in Normal, Illinois. Rivian is also constructing a second Georgia plant that will add up to 300,000 units of annual capacity.
