Rapid7 Appoints Wael Mohamed CEO; Corey Thomas Becomes Executive Chairman

Rapid7 Inc. (NASDAQ: RPD) has named Wael Mohamed as chief executive officer, effective June 1, 2026. Corey Thomas, who led the cybersecurity company since 2008, transitions to the role of executive chairman. Mohamed previously served as Rapid7’s president and chief operating officer. Thomas oversaw the company’s initial public offering and its expansion into cloud-native security operations. The leadership change is a planned succession, the company said. Rapid7 stated the move will allow Thomas to focus on strategic advisory functions while Mohamed drives execution of the firm’s growth strategy in vulnerability management and extended detection and response.
