Charles Schwab (SCHW) wired approximately $27.7 million to a Moroccan realtor for Jeffrey Epstein in the days before his July 6, 2019 arrest, U.S. Department of Justice files show. The transfers included a $14.95 million payment sent from an account with insufficient funds to purchase the Bin Ennakhil palace. Schwab filed a suspicious activity report on July 13, 2019, noting concerns over Epstein's negative media attention and potential flight risk. The brokerage opened the accounts in April 2019 and terminated the relationship within 60 days of starting an internal review.
