Sagimet's Denifanstat Hits 57% Success Rate at 52 Weeks in Phase 3 Acne Study; Shares Jump 7% Premarket

Sagimet Biosciences (SGMT) reported positive 52-week results from a Phase 3 open-label extension study of denifanstat in moderate to severe acne vulgaris, presented at EADV 2026. Shares rose 7.18% to $10.00 in premarket trading on September 30, 2026. The oral, once-daily fatty acid synthase (FASN) inhibitor achieved a 57% treatment success rate, a 72% reduction in total lesions and a 77% reduction in inflammatory lesions. No permanent discontinuations occurred due to adverse events. Sagimet said patient screening for its U.S. Phase 3 AURORA trial is expected to begin in October 2026. Shares closed September 29, 2026, at $9.33, down 6.14%.
