Shopify Shares Rally on Meta Muse AI Checkout Partnership; Amazon Blocks Access
Shopify (SHOP) shares climbed nearly 8% on September 22, 2026, extending a 7% gain from the prior session after CEO Tobi Lutke announced a partnership with Meta's (META) new Muse AI agent. The deal enables agentic checkout via Shop Pay across all Shopify stores. Deutsche Bank analysts called the tie-up "strategically important," citing it as further evidence that leading AI platforms are integrating with Shopify's commerce infrastructure. JPMorgan analysts said Muse has "the potential to become the most widely used consumer AI application since ChatGPT." Meta shares rose about 1% after jumping 11% the previous day. Amazon (AMZN) confirmed it has blocked Muse from completing purchases on its platform. Despite the rally, Shopify shares remain down nearly 10% year-to-date, though up more than 50% from their May low.
