SpaceX’s initial public offering is poised to make Elon Musk the world’s first trillionaire. A filing Wednesday set a fixed IPO price of $135 per share, valuing Musk’s 42% equity stake at $866.5 billion. Combined with his Tesla (TSLA) holdings worth roughly $301.1 billion, his paper wealth in just those two companies totals approximately $1.168 trillion. The company will offer 555,555,555 shares, seeking record proceeds of $75 billion when trading begins June 12 on the Nasdaq under ticker SPCX. Musk controls about 82% of SpaceX’s voting power through a dual-class share structure. The Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which applies liquidity adjustments, pegs his net worth at $988 billion based on the IPO price. Any rise above $135 when shares open would push him over the trillion-dollar threshold. Investors are overlooking cash burn and governance concerns, betting on Musk’s vision amid rapid Starlink growth and integration with his AI venture xAI.
