Asian Benchmarks Mostly Rise After Wall Street Rally; Kospi Jumps 1.6%

Asian shares mostly advanced on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, tracking an overnight Wall Street rally that pushed the S&P 500 to the edge of a record. South Korea's Kospi jumped 1.6% to 7,120.25, Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.6% to 25,185.26, the Shanghai Composite rose 0.4% to 3,964.45, and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 added 0.2% to 8,748.20. Tokyo markets were closed for an extended holiday; trading resumes Thursday. On Monday, the S&P 500 rose 1.5% to 7,764.70, within 0.4% of last month's record. The Dow added 366.19 points, or 0.7%, to 52,048.83, and the Nasdaq climbed 2.3% to an all-time high of 27,122.09, led by AI and chip stocks. The 10-year Treasury yield eased to 4.95% from 5.01% as oil retreated. U.S. crude gained 0.43% to $96.19 a barrel and Brent rose 0.65% to $100.99. The dollar edged up to 157.43 yen; the euro fetched $1.1474.
