Ed Yardeni, founder of Yardeni Research, expects the S&P 500 to hit 10,000 by 2030 and gold to surge to $10,000 an ounce by the end of the century, citing long-term positive correlation and asset rebalancing flows from equities. He also sees gold reaching $5,500 per ounce by end-2026, up from $4,553 now. Gold has lagged this year with a 5% gain, compared to a 70% jump in 2025, and remains below its January record of $5,318. Dollar strength and central bank gold sales to shore up currencies hit by high oil prices have weighed on the metal. Yardeni believes easing U.S.-Iran tensions and a sustained technical uptrend from late 2023 support a rebound. The S&P 500 has repeatedly set fresh closing highs since late March, indicating markets have absorbed geopolitical risks. Yardeni recently raised his end-2026 S&P 500 target to 8,250. Still, some note his bullish calls have missed in the past.
