US-Listed ETF Inflows Top $1.54 Trillion, Set Record With $2.3 Trillion Year-End Forecast
Inflows into US-listed exchange-traded funds exceeded $1.54 trillion through September 30, 2026, already surpassing the prior full-year record of $1.52 trillion set in 2025, State Street Investment Management data showed. Matthew Bartolini, State Street's global head of research strategists, expects total 2026 inflows to reach $2.3 trillion by year-end. Equity ETFs led with more than $1 trillion, followed by fixed income at over $469 billion. Technology funds drew the largest sector inflows at over $59 billion, while financials posted the biggest outflows at more than $3.8 billion. Funds tracking US stocks took in about $655 billion; international developed market funds added $150.4 billion. Bartolini said investors continue to favor ETFs for capital allocation while mutual funds remain mired in persistent outflows. The Vanguard S&P 500 ETF, the world's largest by assets, gained over 13% year-to-date as of Friday morning.
