Samsung Unveils Galaxy SmartTag 3, Adds iPhone Support to Rival Apple AirTag (SSNLF)

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (SSNLF) announced the Galaxy SmartTag 3, a redesigned tracking device that for the first time lets iPhone users locate it through Samsung's iPhone app. The device goes on sale October 7. The tracker is 35% smaller and 33% lighter than its predecessor after Samsung removed the built-in mounting loop. Samsung claims up to 550 days of battery life under typical use and 790 days in Power Saving Mode. It supports Bluetooth 6.0 with channel sounding and ultra-wideband for more precise location tracking. The SmartTag 3 operates on Samsung's Galaxy Find Network via the SmartThings Find app, which Samsung says is supported by more than 900 million Galaxy devices. IPhones can locate a tag but do not contribute to the network, and the device still does not support Google's broader Android Find Hub network. New features include Place Notifications, Location History, Movement Detection Alerts, Left Behind Alerts and NFC-enabled Lost Mode.
