Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD) announced on September 30, 2026, that it intends to launch a new share buyback program repurchasing up to C$10 billion of its common shares, subject to approval from Canada's Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions. The buyback will not exceed 61 million common shares, or up to 3.74% of the bank's 1.63 billion shares outstanding as of August 31. TD intends to complete the program by July 2027, initially conducting repurchases under its existing TSX normal course issuer bid before launching a new NCIB pending exchange approval. The announcement follows the bank's recent completion of a C$7 billion buyback covering 47.2 million shares under the same NCIB. TD shares closed at $119 on the New York Stock Exchange on September 29, 2026, down 0.46%.
