TSMC (2330-TW, TSM-US) is evaluating a potential investment in Texas that would come on top of its $265 billion commitment to Arizona, Reuters reported on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, citing two people familiar with the matter. Plans are not finalized, and the company did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The chipmaker said in July 2026 it would invest an additional $100 billion in Arizona, raising its total pledged investment there to $265 billion for semiconductor manufacturing facilities. Chairman and CEO C.C. Wei said at the time the company could build four or more additional fabs, spanning front-end wafer manufacturing and back-end packaging. Including existing and planned construction, TSMC's Arizona footprint would comprise 12 wafer fabrication and advanced packaging facilities and one R&D center. CFO Wendell Huang told Reuters in July the company would continue investing in the United States.
