Taiwan Stocks Poised to Open Lower as Investors Await U.S. Inflation Data
Taiwan's benchmark TSE index is expected to open lower on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026, after falling 392.64 points, or 0.82%, to close at 47,631.96 on Tuesday. The index has dropped more than 525 points, or 1.2%, over two consecutive sessions. The decline tracked losses in financial, technology and communications shares, mirroring a weak Wall Street session. The Dow fell 0.26% to 51,359.92, the NASDAQ slipped 0.09% to 26,797.54 and the S&P 500 dropped 0.17% to 7,670.84, as traders held back ahead of key U.S. inflation data that could shape the Federal Reserve's rate outlook. West Texas Intermediate crude for November delivery fell $2.90, or 3.1%, to $89.70 a barrel after Saudi Arabia's Red Sea port exports recovered from a pipeline attack. Treasury yields extended gains, while U.S. consumer confidence unexpectedly deteriorated in September.
