Uber Technologies Inc. (UBER) said on May 14, 2026, it will open two new engineering campuses in Bengaluru and Hyderabad by the end of 2027, expanding its India technology base to support product development, AI investments and infrastructure operations. The campuses will have capacity for about 9,600 people and add to Uber’s existing operations in the two cities. Uber also said it partnered with Adani Group to build its first data center in India, expected to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2026. Uber employs about 3,500 people in India and plans to keep hiring for roles in generative AI, machine learning, autonomous vehicle operations and back-end infrastructure. The expansion follows a $330 million investment earlier in 2026 in Uber’s India unit, as the company seeks growth beyond ride-hailing while managing price competition, driver incentive costs, supply constraints and regulatory volatility in the market.
