Uber, Nuro, Lucid Partner to Launch Robotaxi Service in Houston by 2027

Uber Technologies Inc. (UBER), autonomous vehicle company Nuro, and electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid Group Inc. (LCID) will launch a robotaxi service in Houston by 2027. This collaboration marks an expansion into autonomous ride-hailing for Uber, utilizing Nuro's self-driving technology and Lucid's vehicle platforms to integrate driverless vehicles into urban transportation. The service will deploy Nuro's autonomous vehicles, with Lucid providing electric vehicle platforms integrated with Nuro's self-driving stack for passenger transport. Uber will provide the ride-hailing platform, connecting users with the autonomous fleet. This strategic alliance positions the companies to compete in the autonomous mobility sector, using Houston as an initial operational hub.
