UMB Financial (UMBF) Leads Regional Banks with Q1 Beat; First Busey (BUSE) Also Outperforms
Regional banks turned in mixed first-quarter 2026 results, with UMB Financial (NASDAQ:UMBF) and First Busey (NASDAQ:BUSE) exceeding forecasts while peers like BankUnited (NYSE:BKU) fell short. The group overall saw revenues in line with consensus, but performance varied sharply. UMB Financial reported revenue of $744.8 million, up 29.3% year-over-year and 5.4% above analysts’ estimates, the largest beat among the 91 regional banks tracked. First Busey’s revenue surged 40.1% to $197.2 million, meeting expectations, but it impressively exceeded EPS and tangible book value per share forecasts. UMBF shares climbed 4.8% after the report, and BUSE gained 2.7%. Conversely, BankUnited’s $273.8 million in revenue missed estimates by 5.1%, with significant shortfalls in net interest income. ServisFirst Bancshares (SFBS) and FirstSun Capital Bancorp (FSUN) also missed revenue expectations, and their stocks were flat to lower.
